N5TeAM - Master’s Programme in Applied and Engineering Mathematics

Summer School 2014

N5TeAM Summer School will be organised 9-13 June in Lillsved, in Stockholm Archipelago (Sweden).

Topic: Inverse problems
Teacher: Prof. Nuutti HYvönen (Aalto University School of Science)

In addition to N5TeAM students, the summer school is open also for other Master students. Also last year Bachelor students may apply.

Prerequisites for the course:

 The applicant should have solid knowledge of the following subjects:

  • vector calculus
  • linear algebra
  • ordinary differential equations
  • numerical analysis
  • probability
  • statistics

In addition, a basic understanding of partial differential equations and knowledge and experience of a higher programming language are required.

N5TeAM consortium offers scholarships (for travel and accommodation costs) for N5TeAM students and students of the consortium univeristies (Aalto, Chalmers, DTU, KTH and NTNU). Also last year Bachelor students may apply. The scholarship application deadline is 25 April 2014. See more information on the Scholarships page.

Also students form other universities are welcome to join the Summer School!

The Summer School is free of charge. Students from other universities can apply for the summer school scholarship (for travel and accommodation cost) but in allocating the scholarships, we wil give preference to partner universities´ students. Also students taking care of their travel and accommodation costs are welcome to join. If you are interested in joining, please send a free-form application with your transcript to master-n5team [at] aalto [dot] fi by 25 April 2014.

Please note that all students are personally responsible for adequate health, accident, disability, and hospitalization insurance coverage during participation.

Arrival

Sunday 8 June. We´ll have a get-together on Sunday evening, the cousre will start on Monday 9th June.

Accommodation

is arranged  in 2- 4 person rooms.

Meals

Breakfast, lunch, dinner, evening snack are offered on the course days.
(On Sunday 8 June only dinner and on Friday 13 June only breakfast and lunch.)
